this week's iTunes "top" alternative review

decided to review the top alternative songs on iTunes

Viva la Vida by Coldplay - not so hot. i dont know what i was expecting, but as seilens put it "what were you expecting? its coldplay"
Shake It by Metro Station - too poppy. makes me want to have a seizure.
Fall for You by Secondhand Serenade - a lil too emo for even me.
The Beginning Is the End Is the Beginning by Smashing Pumpkins - oh billy c. how long has it been? did you know i once met billy? yeah. he was pretty cool. and then back in the even more ancient days, i remember avoiding seeing the smashing pumpkins whenever we went to shows b/c they sucked. this was when they were a lil local chicago band and playin all sorts of nights. oh the song? its ok. slow pumpkins stuff, billy droning along. not the poppy hitty stuff that made him rich
Shut Up and Let Me Go by The Ting Tings - sheldonkey from milkbar loves the Ting Tings this week. i have to admit i like this song. i will most likely check out the album and buy it. but then i'm also a sucker for female singers
Thunder (Radio Mix) by Boys Like Girls - i close my eyes and i picture a band from southern california. with surfer girls and emo-ish boys with fauxhawks in the video. not my scene.
Check Yes Juliet by We the Kings - if i didnt know any better (aka looking at the artist name) i'd think that a huge # of these artists were all the same band. this one sounds a lil better as its a bit more energetic.
That's What You Get by Paramore - 2x * xy2 * 4y2 = formulaic alt pop add female singer and Thats What You Get.
Violet Hill by Coldplay - i was all ready to be all "see top of list" before i hit play. but actually i like this song. its a less emo coldplay on this one
Pork and Beans by Weezer - awww. Weezer. reminds me of a story about a tall kid with blue hair who worked at a bookstore.
Clocks by Coldplay - reminds me that yes indeed the top songs on iTunes are not the most current songs. i like this album. i own it. nuff said. plus this one song reminds me of another song which was on a special episode of La Femme Nikita and i have / had a huge crush on Peta Wilson. mmmmm.
Paralyzer by Finger Eleven - not down with this syncopated noodley song. theres not much range shown here.
I'm Not Over by Carolina Liar - I'm not over you just yet. decent power alt pop.
Island in the Sun by Weezer - this song was on my friend paula's wedding cd. its so purty.
I Will Possess Your Heart by Death Cab for Cutie - i never found the same affinity for DCfC that everyone seems to have. its nice and pretty but i think i need something more. so i think its best that we see other bands. i hope we can still be friends?
Beat It (feat. John Mayer) by Fall Out Boy - oh god. talk about a dream team remake. take one MJ hit. add some hot bands and a hot singer. and you get... a really decent cover. with enough differences and enough similarities to make you smile and go huh.
Nine In the Afternoon by Panic At the Disco - i've heard a lot of good things about Panic @ the Disco. not sure why i bothered using the @ instead of "at" i mean, its not like i saved any keystrokes. had to hit shift and 2. instead of just a and t. the song? i like it. not gonna go buy it or check out the album - the horns sorta put me off. but musically i liked the song. you should go listen.
Hey There Delilah by Plain White T's - awwww... "give the song another listen, close your eyes..." its a nice song. acoustic and pretty. and songs with Delilah in the name are usually nice.
Rise Above This by Seether - i see this band name and i always wonder if they took it from the veruca salt song title. i wonder if my band will sound like this when we get over produced? maybe.
Misery Business by Paramore - remember what nice things i said about Paramore before? i think its those high production values and the formula. sad. i'm sure they're really awesome rawer.
